I live in the American midwest, and I tell stories intended for readers who enjoy challenging, inspiring, and realistic character-driven fiction. I published my first novel, Five Fathoms Beneath, in October 2018, and I plan to publish my second novel, The Stars That Govern Us in December 2020.
The unforgettable, inspiring, and thought-provoking *Five Fathoms Beneath*–a stunning literary novel with a hint of magical realism about fathers and sons, suicide and mental illness, loss and redemption.
My debut novel, Five Fathoms Beneath, was published in 2018. Five Fathoms Beneath is an Indie B.R.A.G. Medallion recipient, was a finalist for the 2019 Wishing Shelf Award, and is a winner of the Literary Titan Gold Award. Five Fathoms Beneath was also short-listed for the Eric Hoffer Award for best cover design.
Readers have called Five Fathoms Beneath “vivid and entrancing,” “an amazing first novel,” “one of the best books I’ve read in 2018,” and “crisp, well-written, and engaging.” With a nod to philosopher Loren Eiseley’s famous essay, “The Star Thrower,” and to Shakespeare’s classic play, “The Tempest,” Five Fathoms Beneath blends literary allusions, elements of magical realism, and a realistic medical backdrop to create a wholly original, contemporarily relevant, and ultimately uplifting and encouraging story about a young man’s struggle to overcome depression and to cope with his father’s tragic death by suicide.
Five Fathoms Beneath is available for purchase as an ebook for Kindle as well as in paperback through Amazon.com. Five Fathoms Beneath is also free to read through your Kindle Unlimited subscription. Learn more about Five Fathoms Beneath here.

The extraordinary, touching, and historically-based *The Stars That Govern Us*–a novel about friendship, overcoming the odds, and doing the world some good.
My second novel, The Stars That Govern Us is currently slated for release on December 1, 2020. The Stars That Govern Us is a standalone prequel to my debut novel, Five Fathoms Beneath.
Set in 1956 in a fictionalized version of Perth, Western Australia, The Stars That Govern Us tells the story of Alec Serafeim and Pete O’Neill, two young pediatric congenital heart surgeons who seek to build a heart-lung machine at their poor public hospital. Diving deep into the esoteric world of early pediatric congenital heart surgery, the story blends fact and imagination to tell the story of one of the 20th century’s greatest inventions–a machine to take the place of the human heart and lungs. As an #ownvoices novel, The Stars That Govern Us also features a main character with generalized anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder.
The Stars That Govern Us will be available on Amazon as book an eBook and as a paperback on December 1, 2020. You can learn more about The Stars That Govern Us here.
